Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Political leadership is pivotal in determining the direction of development at the local government level. In Jos South LGA, Plateau State, political leaders are expected to champion development initiatives, allocate resources efficiently, and represent the interests of the electorate. This study will investigate the relationship between political leadership and local governance development in Jos South, focusing on the role of elected officials in shaping the development trajectory of the region (Adeyemi & Lawal, 2024).
1.2 Statement of the Problem
In Jos South, concerns have been raised regarding the effectiveness of political leaders in promoting sustainable development, especially in areas such as infrastructure, healthcare, and education. This study aims to explore how political leadership impacts the development of Jos South LGA and assess whether political leaders are effectively meeting the development needs of their communities.
